This site aims to be a resource for those seeking more in depth information about The Long Winters, John Roderick's band from Seattle WA, USA. This band is much talked about, and its founding father can be quite talkative himself. Much of this information is hidden within those vast stretches of webspace out there, or yellowing on paper, about to be recycled. This site hopefully helps you find more information on past and present goings on in the world of the wonderful 'river otters of rock'.

Recently I discovered that for years now I have been guilty of one of the top 10 mistakes in cyberspace: I have been 'breaking the Back button'. That is, I have been following my own preference that links to external pages open in a separate window: all too often I forget what I came to a site for because I lose my way in links my curiosity cannot resist.
I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience; as of today this has been changed for the whole Library. If, like me, you like to have a link open in a separate window, you are kindly requested to DIY from now on.

Hurrah, the shortest day has passed. But winter is still long (ahem), so the Library provides something to do during those long dark nights: the Long Winters trivia contest. Have fun!
25 November 2005
If I'd known how easy it is to add an RSS-feed, I would have done it sooner. Now you don't have to miss any new Banter of the week, and can keep up to date about new items in the Library without doing the whole tour.

Several new additions to the library. The historical geography section of the Performing Arts wing now features a whole lot of concert posters. Added to the reading room are reviews for The Worst You Can Do Is Harm, as well as Ultimatum.
And last but not least: a tiny little stage has been built in a corner of the entrance hall. There you can hear for yourself what - besides the music - makes a Long Winters gig so much fun: banter of the week. And you can take that name seriously.

It turns out that the table format used for the tour history page became a monster. So I killed it, and now the page loads quicker, is significantly shorter, and important for me: updates easier. Which should make up for the slight loss in overview. It's still bitchin'long, but blame the band for their relentless touring.

Build a library in two months, then spend a leisurely four months on one single room. That's what the library has been up to, and admittedly, the reading room is open, but not even done yet. Your librarian is still going through a long wonderful list of links compiled by John's biggest fan, and has barely started on articles that only came out in print. And so far, only reviews for When I Pretend to Fall have been added. However, it is a solemn promise that Harm will follow as soon as an acute allergy to reviews has been conquered. And to think almost every review has been favourable...
3 March 2005
After two months of building, this library is ready to open its doors to the public. The reading room is still under construction, but all other rooms should be accessible. Hopefully more wings and rooms can be added to this library at a later date.
No library is ever finished, and any additions, corrections or suggestions are very welcome at the librarian's desk.
